Himalayas ! One of the biggest natural assets of India. It's not a surprise that this region hosts the best hiking trails, ranging from easy, to most difficult , to suicidal. !!
Trekking has not been too high on my wish list.
Your body aches. The calf and thigh muscles are struggling to cope with continuous ascent. The body screams but the mind ignores the screaming, and motivates it "A little more and we're there. You can do it. You've got what it takes" the body responds and you lumber on.
The breathlessness catches up with you.
The weight of the backpack seems unbearable.
The shoulders ache.
The lungs are fatigued.
The mind steps up again. "Let's do this in Phases" ,It says, "every fifty steps, you can rest" The power of the human brain at work !
Can You Believe It ?? No shower and loo for 4 days. But I had an amazing group of 11 friends who accompanied me through the mountains. We went with Invincible NGO.
It was a trek to Bhrigu Lake.
The journey to this forget-me-not lake takes you to a completely different world.
We encountered Green Meadows to Snow covered Mountains.
Was i scared ? Oh yes !! But ...
Fear to a great extent is born out of a story we tell ourselves but the choice of story remains with me so i told myself a different story , i decided i was safe , i was strong and i was brave. Nothing could vanquish me . !! Absolutely Nothing
It was challenging but then it was worth it !!
I was amazed that what i needed to survive could be carried on my back and most surprising of all that i could carry it.
I know how important it is in life, not necessarily to be strong but to feel strong. To measure yourself atleast once, to find yourself atleast once in the ancient of human conditions, facing the blind , deaf stone. Alone, nothing to help you but your own hands and your own your head.
There is a pleasure in the pathless woods .
This trek was once in a lifetime experience. After Green Meadows, the landscape was dominated by brown and white. We walked on a slippery slope of snow, ice and scree. The scale of this was so huge-it felt like we were walking on a giant OREO COOKIE !!!
And then the grandest view of them all !! Out from the ridges popped the Oval-shaped Bhrigu Lake. It was a complete surprise.
The lake popped out of nowhere and considering how grand and celestial it is, we wondered how on earth it was so well-hidden.
It was a lifetime experience.!!!
As a student of life i have always believed intelligence manifests itself not through expression or formality but through observation and genuine curiosity.
Observing Nature is always been an awe-inspiring spiritual experience for me. There is nothing more humbling than being face to face with something so much bigger than yourself.
I often fall in love with places that proves how small we are. Places that humble us with reminders that we have so much more to learn. so much more to grow that we are part of something bigger than ourselves
Our significance lies in such potential in that quite recognition of the stardust in our bones and oceans in our mind. knowing that a new sunrise paints our sky every morning. and by virtue of just being and by existing nature gives us a free front row seat. Its like we've won the evolutionary lottery.
That's why i find it perplexing that we live such misdirected , consumed lives.
Life can turn upside down anytime.
All of us are always just one unexpected phone call, one diagnosis, one broken heart, one newfound love and one moment away from being completely different people with completely different priorities.
Indeed , how frail we are and yet how blessed we are. These seemingly insignificant moments spent with nature remind you of what's important. They remind you that all we really have is our consciousness and each other.
Afterall what is life without either.!!! :)
